the wilderness lovers of survivers

Title: Julie of the Wolves

Author: Jean Craighead George

Published: Harper Trophy

First thing: I love this book. What is different about this book is the connection Miyax has for the wilderness and the wildlife. She learns that hardships are something that she must learn in order to survive. She must become one with the wolves in order to live. In this lifetime Miyax must trust her eskimo instincts in order to live.

Summary: Miyax like many adolescents, is torn. But unlike most, her choices may determine whether she lives or dies. At 13, an orphan, and unhappily married, Miyax runs away from her husband's parents' home, hoping to reach San Francisco and her pen pal. But she becomes lost in the vast Alaskan tundra, with no food, no shelter, and no idea which is the way to safety. Now, more than ever, she must look hard at who she really is. Is she Miyax, Eskimo girl of the old ways? Or is she Julie (her "gussak"-white people-name), the modernized teenager who must mock the traditional customs? And when a pack of wolves begins to accept her into their community, Miyax must learn to think like a wolf as well. If she trusts her Eskimo instincts, will she stand a chance of surviving?

Last thing: Grab this book and run with Miyax as she learns to survive, to use her eskimo instincts, and to become part of the wolves.

Girls who love horses

Title: The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses Loading...

Author: Paul Goble

First thing: When I read this book from my childhood memories I felt as if part of my childhood came to life. Every element of this book signifies just how much the little girl loves her equine friends. She has this connection that is deeper than anything that goes beyond to anyone that knows and loves something. This book entails a true sacred-spiritual love that will leave anyone wanting it for themselves. What is great about this book is the detail work; the drawings are so rich and color deep, the landscape all the way down to the smallest detail is a beautiful work.

For the young Native American girl in Paul Goble's 1979 Caldecott-winning masterpiece, The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses, it is a blessing. Although she loves her people, this girl has a much deeper, almost sacred connection to her equine friends. For the horse lovers

Title: The Horse Whisper

Author:  Nicholas Evans

Published: Dell

First thing:  The Horse Whisper is a book filled with love and devotion. The devotion part of this book is to get back on the horse sort of speak. This book left me with a sense of not giving up and always knowing that love will set you free.  .

Summary: A forty-ton truck hurtles out of control on a snowy country road, a teenage girl on horseback in its path. In a few terrible seconds the life of a family is shattered. And a mother's quest begins -- to save her maimed daughter and a horse driven mad by pain. It is an odyssey that will bring her to...

The Horse Whisperer

He is the stuff of legend. His voice can calm wild horses and his touch heal broken spirits. For secrets uttered softly into pricked and troubled ears, such men were once called Whisperers. Now Tom Booker, the inheritor of this ancient gift, is to meet his greatest challenge.

Annie Graves has traveled across a continent with her daughter, Grace, and their wounded horse, Pilgrim, to the Booker ranch in Montana. Annie has risked everything -- her career, her marriage, her comfortable life--in her desperate belief that the Whisperer can help them. The accident has turned Pilgrim savage. He is now so demented and dangerous that everyone says he should be destroyed. But Annie won't give up on him, for she feels his fate is inextricably entwined with that of her daughter, who has retreated into a heartrending, hostile silence. Annie knows that if the horse dies, something in Grace will die too.

In the weeks to come, under the massive sky of the Rocky Mountain Front, all their lives--including Tom Booker's--will be transformed forever in a way none could have foretold. At once an epic love story and a gripping adventure, The Horse Whisperer weaves an extraordinary tale of healing and redemption--a magnificent emotional journey that explores our ancient bonds with earth and sky and hearts untamed. It is a stirring elegy to the power of belief and self-discovery, to hopes lost and found again.

Last thing: .  If you have seen ‘The Horse Whisper’ this is a must read. I was skeptical about reading this because of the movie, but it follows the same story line only the imagination of  how much hurt and pain they both carried.

book of tears

Title: If I Stay

Author: Gayle Forman

Published: Dutton Juvenile

First Thing: Let me say that this book gave me the chills and the flowing works of tears. I had never had a book that made me cry nonstop. This book made me connect with Mia in a deep-spiritual way that no one had.  Gayle produces this book like no other. Every element in this book woven into a delicate situation made me realize just how delicate our lives are.

Summary:  In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen year- old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck...

Last thing: In the end this book left me with tears of joy, sadness, heartache, and lifetime of overwhelming determination that Mia lives. So many things in this book will leave the reader into loving, wondering, and sadness about how delicate our lives are and how much we need to appreciate it.

The messenger series

Title: Dead on Delivery

Author: Eileen Rendahl

Published: Berkley Trade

First thing: If you Loved Don’t kill the Messenger then this is the second series of the book that you need. The characters are what brought the book into real life. The context of this book reeled me in and after a little time after I finished the book I could not wait for the third book to come.

Summary: There are two men who have bitten the dust after a delivery from Messenger Melina Markowitz. As she tries to put together the pieces of this puzzle, she discovers that the two victims share common friends, common unexplained absences, and a common crime. Now, dark forces from the local community have been unleashed, drawing Melina into the web of a powerful woman, her voodoo, and her vengeance…

Last thing: This book is great for anyone that loves adventure, a kick-ass woman, and witty comments.

The Messenger series

Title: Don't Kill The Messenger

Author: Eileen Rendahl

Published: Berkley Trade

First thing: Although this book did not catch my eye about wanting to read it. After consideration and rolling the pages I actually did like this book. Eileen did a great job on the context of the book, how she put the dialoguetogether, and the way the book flowed. This book had action and how she interwoven the history within the book.

Summary: Melina Markowitz is a Messenger, a go-between for paranormal forces and supernatural creatures. Problem is, when a girl's a go-between, it's hard not to get caught in the middle...

When ninjas steal an envelope from Melina, her search leads her to a Taoist temple in Old Sacramento, where the priests seem to practice Zen and the art of mayhem. Melina learns from the handsome ER doctor (and vampire) who gave her the envelope that it contained talismans created by the priests to control Chinese vampires, who are attacking gang members to spark a street war.

Although he may look more like a surfer than a cop, Ted Goodnight is dead serious about investigating the surge in gang violence. At every turn he runs into Melina, a very attractive-and very mysterious-young woman. Can Melina enlist his help to battle something he doesn't even believe in without blowing her cover?

Last thing: Last and not least if you want a book that is different from any action pact this is the book for you. This is something that readers would love to read and enjoy.

the second witty vampire

Title: The Last Vampire Standing

Author: Nancy Haddock

Published:  The Berkley Publishing Group

First thing:  This is the second part of La Vida Vampire and this book was even better than the first one. I love the stand- up comically wit with this book. Also this book featured some new characters that were bliss, fun, and mysterious. The mysterious part you must find out for yourself.

Summary: Second in the delight seriers  featuring a vampire princess in the  Sunshine State, adjusting to life, undeath, and that brutal Floridian sun.

Last thing:  If you loved the first book get ready for another action pact-fun witty fireworks then this is the book you need. Nancy has done it again with this book I would recommend it to anyone and everyone who loves vampires; not like twilight.

The witty of vampires

Title: La Vida Vampire

Author: Nancy Haddock

Published:  The Berkley Publishing Group

First thing:  This book is very intriguing; absolute fun and more amazing is how Nancy puts this book in context. She has a way with the dialogue which I love and the way she describes the action is.   All the characters I had a little trouble understanding, but once the pages rolled I connected with the characters. The characters made this book an action pack-fun adventure, fang-bite kick-ass and awesome fun twist that make me never want to put the book down.

Summary: First in a delightfully irreverent new series-and second to none when it comes to beautiful 227-year-old career women.

Being dead isn't all it's cracked up to be. Take it from Francesca Marinelli, trapped underground for over 200 years and rediscovered during the renovation of a Victorian mansion in historic St. Augustine. A tourist attraction herself, she's well suited for a job as an Old Ghost Town Tour guide. Francesca's due for a new lease on afterlife-and with enough sunblock, she can finally live it.

Unfortunately, everything she learned about men is a little dated. And when people in her tour group turn up dead, naturally the police suspect her. After all, she is a vampire. Which is why a crazed vampire-hunting vigilante squad is out to get her as well. Between the dead bodies, the stalkers, and a seriously non-existent love life, she's starting to wish she was dead. Or at least buried, where she was safe

Ever Other Day

Title: Every Other Day
Author: Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Published: Egmont USA

First thing: I was pulled into this book. Nothing could stop me from finishing this book. Every element in this book told me how much Kali were hurting and how much her thirst to kill needed to be satisfied. In some aspects I was drawn to her element and pain. I loved this book which drew me closer to understanding her thirst to kill and hunt the essence of evil. Even though some of you think that this book is all about how much pain she is in, how much she needs to survive, and that she is in an angry tide, that we forget that she is a person trying to keep the balance between light and darkness.

Summary: ‘Kill…kill…I need to kill’ For Kali life is hard and full of evil lurking into the depths of darkness. She is sixteen and with that comes a price that she never knew she had; One minute she is human the next few hours she is something of supernatural essence; a demon-hunter.  Her destiny is something beyond what she dreamed would ever happen. Friend’s lives are in danger, her own family deceived her, and at the end she is alone.  As she finds out her destiny little bits and pieces of her past emerge up to the surface as she fights towards that inner thought of her voice telling her to ‘kill…kill.’
One moment Kali is human the next she is a demon-hunter for a thirst to kill the supernatural. One day she sees a person marked by one of the supernatural creatures. Kali draws the symbol to her, but she must survive the mark as a human. Will she make it, will she be able to survive the mark as a human or will she fail?
In an effort to survive she also finds out her condition and what makes her a demon-hunter.

Last thing: The author, Jennifer did an amazing job with the plot, the characters, and each element. I for one connected with Kali and how much she needed to fight in order to satisfy her cravings for killing creatures that humans are afraid of. One thing that I liked about this book was how much DNA was used in a biomechanics of supernatural creatures. It intrigued me how she incorporated the DNA into science and how much supernatural forces can become a dominate answer to anything. If you love supernatural, women who kick-ass and fight the supernatural, or maybe you love to read about DNA…this is a book for all.

Blood

Title: Blood
Authors:  K.J. Wignall
Published:  Egmont USA

First thing: For starters I didn’t know what to expect from this book. Sometimes the title of the book will give away what is written in the book, but not this time. IN this book I was intrigued that an author turned a vampire book to an adventure between a destiny and romance. Something’s of this book that jumped out of me was how supernatural this book was wrapped in. Second thing was I thought this book was wrapped in a bloodbath, but sorry to disappoint no gore. The third thing that I noticed was that Will became a vampire to reach his destiny. What was interesting about this book was how it was like a domino. When one piece falls the others fall together and most of the domino pieces were about his past recollecting and emerging for the readers to understand just what happened to him.
Summary: “Will is a vampire in danger. Heir to the Earl of Mercia, he was brutally attacked and buried in the thirteenth century before he was able to assume his title. Perpetually sixteen, Will’s life has been lonely. He leaves his tomb every so often, adapts to the present day, feeds his bloodlust, and never gets close to anyone. Until now. Waking from a twenty-year slumber, hungry for the blood that sustains his undeath, he meets Eloise—but can’t bear to make her his next victim. Drawn to a girl he can never have, but whose fate seems bound with his own, he feels the need to protect her. But Will has an enemy who will stop at nothing to find him . . . and he’s closing in. . . .(goodreads)”

Last thing: Although the title of the book looks awesome, this book deceived me. Some ways this book deceived me was that it wasn’t what I expected. I expected a dash of heat, more romance, and a vampire with attitude, not a vampire who is feeling sorry and thinking that being a vampire is a curse. One last thing is that Will slumbers in his tomb for centuries at a time. Which I never heard of a vampire hibernates every so often in centuries although this book is a traditional vampire book, it did not connect to me in a way that most books do. In another way he finds trouble and falls in love with a human girl. Although this book gives an edge I did not like it. Most vampire books that I have are something of what makes a vampire and not hibernating. Yes there are some moments when this book had an awesome combat. As a result I will read the trilogy to this series.

I do want to thank  Egmont USA for accepting my request.

For my grandmother

Hello my fellow peeps

I just want to give a love and joy to my grandmother. Today is her b-day... 'Happi B-day gram grams. I miss you and love ya. Wish you were here. From your favorite granddaughter

Today is a special day for someone that is special to me; my grandmother. Today is her b-day and no matter what I will always have to be reminded that she is not here today, instead in heaven singing her songs and dancing her way through life. I know that she is watching over me dancing with me and showing how much she loves me. One day I shall be by her side and no matter what danger lurks around we will conquer together. Here is a letter for you Gram Grams

Dear Grandmother,

Thank you for being there when I needed you, for loving me as your granddaughter, and always know what I needed. I love you and no matter what I will be there by your side as a living person until my death sings. I know that in heaven you are dancing, knitting, and singing your songs with your piano.   I just wish I had more time to tell you how I feel and maybe my journey will continue with you. I just wish that sometimes you are here helping me, but I know that you are. I love you Gram Grams.

Thank you for being the best Grams ever

For all that has lost a loved one in your past it is only the beginning. Yes I know how do you know and what could you possibly know that it is just the beginning.  In my mind death is a second journey and each day that you live brings you closer to the person. In the end when time calls you, your loved one will be waiting at that tunnel to guide you through the dangers, backstabbers, and the sharp life. It is not the end; always rejoice to have known them, no regrets, and always know that they are in heaven smiling down to you saying that “I am proud of you.” I know because I had two people pass away; my grandmother and father.

Yes it does get easier over time and know that you are not alone. I give my love and hope to all that have passed on for you all. They love you and will never turn their backs on you.

Title: The Gaslight Dogs
Authors: Karin Lowachee
Published: Orbit Hachette Group

First thing:
Beautiful written, the language and the constant description made this book amazing. Karin made this book come to life as I became part of the character’s and gasps with the characters as some of the character’s revealed secrets. The concept of this book was different and creative. This book kept me wondering if this war will ever end, if there could be peace, and love.

Summary:  Aniw is a spiritwalker while Jarret is a solider and also a spiritwalker; he does not know that he is a spiritwalker. Together their paths come together by Jarrett’s father. In every corner and every surface he must be able to face his greatest enemy and he is branded as an outcast.  Jarret has to master his greatest enemy; his own self as part of the spiritwalkers. The people become antsy and feisty as the war comes. The war cast dark shadows up into the north with beautiful artic lights to the sounds of nature, and the beauty of the north, but that war is coming, coming to destroy everything of that place. Will Aniw and Jarret be able to stop the war or will they be the destruction of the people?

Last thing: Although this book has meaning and understanding you must first begin to understand both worlds and then shall you truly understand them; even though this book was written beautifully. The ending wasn’t that great. Karin could have done a better ending. The ending did not fit with the book and it became too chaotic, but overall the book was powerful. For all those who love spirits, love the language of Canada Inuit, and the feel for journeys on end. This book is recommended for you.

Caleb The Shadow Wrangler

Title: Caleb The Shadow Wrangler
Authors: Sarah McCarty
Published: The Berkley Publishing Group

First thing:
Alright ya’ll this book was amazing; not just working and protecting their asses from a feud of werewolves, but they are cowboys living the highlife. There is action, suspense, and love from the brothers that will stick together. In the end the cowboys are vampires searching for anything and everything to make sure that their lives are safe.  In the end the book kept me up all night long, keeping my brain piled up with ‘what happens next’? I would recommend this to anyone that has romance under that heart of yours, loves it when a man protects his love, and loves vampires that are hot, sexy, and keep you from your real world. This book and I state that this book kept me from my real world…so pick up a copy and go into their fantasy were you will meet them, understand that they are living like true cowboys, and know each character.

Summary:
Three rogue brothers, McClaren werewolf pack, and a beautiful woman name Allie. Allie is determined that she is in love with Caleb Johnson who is in love with her.  Caleb is left to questions, answers, and the love of a woman. Did he make the right choice to let his love Allie stay with him. This is dangerous time and that danger is heading to them. He has but one choice and that is to protect her in the end, but will it be enough to save her life?

Last thing:
After reading this book all you have left is the romance. This book is one that I loved as it was written beautifully. The language of dialogue was in perfect synchronized and the character’s personalities showed throughout this book and you get a taste of what each of them. Although it might seem at first slow in the first chapter, you better buckle you seat, put on that cowboy or cowgirl ride, and get ready for a book that bucks and kicks with amazedness.  This book is a must read for all those who as I said love sexiness, love, and romance.

love within the stronghold wind

I run into the strong hold, but would that be enough? I turn my head as the green pastures signal a new life. I look around and feel that one heartbeat. Where are you? I ask into the wind. That one beautiful heart is longing for my touch. I try to break free from this bond that tears me apart. I watch the sun set silently; the colors splash and painted into the sky.

Caution is the only thing I know, but be dammed if that is all I know. For the love of caution is so much stronger in my taste buds. I run, but to where do I run? I wish upon the stars that protect this night sky. Once upon a time my life is like a mirror-glass. This is it as I turn around and find that one heart again. What do I tell her? What do I tell her? For I am only wind as I gently kiss her skin; a bead of water gently flows down her skin. I wonder if this is my life. Where do I go? Who will ever hear me? I am in love; in love with this human. OOO how I wish it is easy.

I am only the wind, but if only I can touch her. Showing her how much she is missing in my world. I throw my head back and laugh. She turns around wondering what that noise is. I think about her; about how much her touch is like a beautiful tower; strong yet with the essence of a woman’s touched. I try calling out to her, but she will never see. How could any human see wind? My touch drips and slips away from her. I am transparent and no love can ever bring me alive. I watch her above these clouds as everyone down there continues with their lives. What am I supposed to do? Who do I turn to?
