the wilderness lovers of survivers

Title: Julie of the Wolves

Author: Jean Craighead George

Published: Harper Trophy

First thing: I love this book. What is different about this book is the connection Miyax has for the wilderness and the wildlife. She learns that hardships are something that she must learn in order to survive. She must become one with the wolves in order to live. In this lifetime Miyax must trust her eskimo instincts in order to live.

Summary: Miyax like many adolescents, is torn. But unlike most, her choices may determine whether she lives or dies. At 13, an orphan, and unhappily married, Miyax runs away from her husband's parents' home, hoping to reach San Francisco and her pen pal. But she becomes lost in the vast Alaskan tundra, with no food, no shelter, and no idea which is the way to safety. Now, more than ever, she must look hard at who she really is. Is she Miyax, Eskimo girl of the old ways? Or is she Julie (her "gussak"-white people-name), the modernized teenager who must mock the traditional customs? And when a pack of wolves begins to accept her into their community, Miyax must learn to think like a wolf as well. If she trusts her Eskimo instincts, will she stand a chance of surviving?

Last thing: Grab this book and run with Miyax as she learns to survive, to use her eskimo instincts, and to become part of the wolves.

Title: The Horse Whisper

Author:  Nicholas Evans

Published: Dell

First thing:  The Horse Whisper is a book filled with love and devotion. The devotion part of this book is to get back on the horse sort of speak. This book left me with a sense of not giving up and always knowing that love will set you free.  .

Summary: A forty-ton truck hurtles out of control on a snowy country road, a teenage girl on horseback in its path. In a few terrible seconds the life of a family is shattered. And a mother's quest begins -- to save her maimed daughter and a horse driven mad by pain. It is an odyssey that will bring her to...

The Horse Whisperer

He is the stuff of legend. His voice can calm wild horses and his touch heal broken spirits. For secrets uttered softly into pricked and troubled ears, such men were once called Whisperers. Now Tom Booker, the inheritor of this ancient gift, is to meet his greatest challenge.

Annie Graves has traveled across a continent with her daughter, Grace, and their wounded horse, Pilgrim, to the Booker ranch in Montana. Annie has risked everything -- her career, her marriage, her comfortable life--in her desperate belief that the Whisperer can help them. The accident has turned Pilgrim savage. He is now so demented and dangerous that everyone says he should be destroyed. But Annie won't give up on him, for she feels his fate is inextricably entwined with that of her daughter, who has retreated into a heartrending, hostile silence. Annie knows that if the horse dies, something in Grace will die too.

In the weeks to come, under the massive sky of the Rocky Mountain Front, all their lives--including Tom Booker's--will be transformed forever in a way none could have foretold. At once an epic love story and a gripping adventure, The Horse Whisperer weaves an extraordinary tale of healing and redemption--a magnificent emotional journey that explores our ancient bonds with earth and sky and hearts untamed. It is a stirring elegy to the power of belief and self-discovery, to hopes lost and found again.

Last thing: .  If you have seen ‘The Horse Whisper’ this is a must read. I was skeptical about reading this because of the movie, but it follows the same story line only the imagination of  how much hurt and pain they both carried.

The Messenger series

Title: Don't Kill The Messenger

Author: Eileen Rendahl

Published: Berkley Trade

First thing: Although this book did not catch my eye about wanting to read it. After consideration and rolling the pages I actually did like this book. Eileen did a great job on the context of the book, how she put the dialoguetogether, and the way the book flowed. This book had action and how she interwoven the history within the book.

Summary: Melina Markowitz is a Messenger, a go-between for paranormal forces and supernatural creatures. Problem is, when a girl's a go-between, it's hard not to get caught in the middle...

When ninjas steal an envelope from Melina, her search leads her to a Taoist temple in Old Sacramento, where the priests seem to practice Zen and the art of mayhem. Melina learns from the handsome ER doctor (and vampire) who gave her the envelope that it contained talismans created by the priests to control Chinese vampires, who are attacking gang members to spark a street war.

Although he may look more like a surfer than a cop, Ted Goodnight is dead serious about investigating the surge in gang violence. At every turn he runs into Melina, a very attractive-and very mysterious-young woman. Can Melina enlist his help to battle something he doesn't even believe in without blowing her cover?

Last thing: Last and not least if you want a book that is different from any action pact this is the book for you. This is something that readers would love to read and enjoy.

First thing:  This book is very intriguing; absolute fun and more amazing is how Nancy puts this book in context. She has a way with the dialogue which I love and the way she describes the action is.   All the characters I had a little trouble understanding, but once the pages rolled I connected with the characters. The characters made this book an action pack-fun adventure, fang-bite kick-ass and awesome fun twist that make me never want to put the book down.

Summary: First in a delightfully irreverent new series-and second to none when it comes to beautiful 227-year-old career women.

Being dead isn't all it's cracked up to be. Take it from Francesca Marinelli, trapped underground for over 200 years and rediscovered during the renovation of a Victorian mansion in historic St. Augustine. A tourist attraction herself, she's well suited for a job as an Old Ghost Town Tour guide. Francesca's due for a new lease on afterlife-and with enough sunblock, she can finally live it.

Unfortunately, everything she learned about men is a little dated. And when people in her tour group turn up dead, naturally the police suspect her. After all, she is a vampire. Which is why a crazed vampire-hunting vigilante squad is out to get her as well. Between the dead bodies, the stalkers, and a seriously non-existent love life, she's starting to wish she was dead.
