Title: The Gaslight Dogs
Authors: Karin Lowachee
Published: Orbit Hachette Group

First thing:
Beautiful written, the language and the constant description made this book amazing. Karin made this book come to life as I became part of the character’s and gasps with the characters as some of the character’s revealed secrets. The concept of this book was different and creative. This book kept me wondering if this war will ever end, if there could be peace, and love.

Summary:  Aniw is a spiritwalker while Jarret is a solider and also a spiritwalker; he does not know that he is a spiritwalker. Together their paths come together by Jarrett’s father. In every corner and every surface he must be able to face his greatest enemy and he is branded as an outcast.  Jarret has to master his greatest enemy; his own self as part of the spiritwalkers. The people become antsy and feisty as the war comes. The war cast dark shadows up into the north with beautiful artic lights to the sounds of nature, and the beauty of the north, but that war is coming, coming to destroy everything of that place. Will Aniw and Jarret be able to stop the war or will they be the destruction of the people?

Last thing: Although this book has meaning and understanding you must first begin to understand both worlds and then shall you truly understand them; even though this book was written beautifully. The ending wasn’t that great. Karin could have done a better ending. The ending did not fit with the book and it became too chaotic, but overall the book was powerful. For all those who love spirits, love the language of Canada Inuit, and the feel for journeys on end. This book is recommended for you.
